How do I register My Password Generator with Temporary Registration information?
To register My Password Generator Temporary Registration information:
1. Double-click on My Password Generator desktop icon.
2. Click 'Help' button in program toolbar.
3. Select the Temporary Registration item. The Temporary Registration window appears.
3. Enter temporary registration information (Name, E-mail, Date and Registration Key). You should enter ALL registration information (including Name, Email, etc.) using copy/paste commands.
Note: Make sure you enter Date to the Date field from the e-mail with Temporary registration information
4. Click "Temporary Activate".

I tried to register My Password Generator with Temporary registration information and got an error message.
If you have problems with Temporary Registration:
• Make sure you select "Temporary registration" not "Complete registration"
• Make sure you enter Date to the Date field from the e-mail with temporary registration information.
• Make sure there are no spaces in registration key and registration key is fully copied (to select reg key, double click the registration key in the e-mail with registration information or put the cursor at the beginning of the reg. key and use Shift+End).
• Check the system date - it should be the current date.
If you are still having problems, make a screenshot of your Temporary Registration window and send it to us:
• Copy and paste Temporary registration information in Temporary registration window, click "Temporary Activate".
• After that make a screenshot of Temporary Registration window so we can see information you entered and the error message and send it to us. After you receive the email with Complete registration information, you should register My Password Generator with it.
1. Double-click My Password Generator desktop icon.

3. Select the Complete Registration item. The Complete Registration window appears.
3. Enter Complete registration information (Name, E-mail and Registration Key). You are recommended to enter ALL registration information using copy/paste commands. User ID is inserted into the User ID field automatically.
4. Click Activate.

How long my password should be to ensure better security?
Each character you add to your password length increases its security. Your passwords should be 12 or more characters in length. The more characters your password contains, the more difficult it can be to guess.
Password length is even more important than using different additional characters. E.g. if you use standard English alphabet (A-Z, a-z) and digits (0-9) - total 62 characters, increasing password length from 6 to 8 characters causes the number of possible passwords will be increased in 3844 times. While 18 additional special characters that can be used for creating passwords (total 80 characters) if password length is 6 characters, will increase the number of possible passwords only in about 4.6 times.

How can I create secure passwords?
Tips to create secure passwords
• Passwords should not be based on well-known or easily accessible personal information. You should never use personal information as a part of your password. It is very easy for others to guess things like your last name, pet's name and other personal details.
• Password length - password size does matter
Each character you add to your password increases its security. Your passwords should be 8 or more characters in length. The more characters your password contains, the more difficult it can be to guess.
• Use random combination of letters (upper-case and lower-case), numbers, and symbols. The greater variety of characters in your password, the harder it is to guess
• You can use a passphrase as a part of password - use a sentence you can easily remember and create a password using the first letter from each word. Note: you should combine it with other measures, such as password length, upper-case and lower-case letters.
• To improve the strength of your password, avoid using only look-alike substitutions of numbers or symbols such as to replace an 'i' with a '1', etc. But these substitutions can be effective when combined with other measures, such as length, upper-case and lower-case letters.
• Passwords shouldn't contain dictionary and/or foreign words.

How to generate really random passwords
There are many examples of "random" password generator programs on the Internet but many programs do not generate random characters in a way that insures strong security.
Computer programming languages include functions that can generate random numbers. Such library functions often have poor statistical properties and some will repeat patterns after only tens of thousands of trials. Library functions are often initialized based on computer's clock. Of course these library functions for generating random numbers may provide enough randomness for some simple tasks but they can't provide high-quality randomness.

Tips to keep passwords safe
• Use different passwords for each account.
You should use different usernames and passwords for each web site and application. That way if one gets compromised, the others are still safe.
• Regularly change your passwords.
You should change your password at least every 30 - 60 days. The more important the password is, the more frequently the password should be changed. Old passwords should not be re-used for a period of 6 months.
• Don't share your passwords with anyone.
• Keep your passwords secure - never give out your passwords to anyone.
• Do not keep a list of passwords on your desk or in a file on your computer where it can be accessed by others.
• Make sure nobody see the password when you enter it.
• Never send your password over e-mail.
• Do not type passwords on computers that you do not control (e.g. Internet cafes, shared systems). Do not use these computers to check e-mails, bank balances or any other account that requires a user name and password.

How can I generate passwords using My Password Generator?
To generate password:
• Double-click on My Password Generator desktop icon
• Click "Tools" button and select "Password Generator".
• In "Random password generator settings" area specify password length and what characters you want to use (upper/lower case letters, digits).
My Password Generator generates random passwords of any length. Randomness of generated passwords makes them hard to guess. You can set password length in "Password length" field.
• Click "Generate password" button and you'll see your password in "Generated password" field.
Random passwords can be edited and copied to the clipboard (manually or using "Copy password" button) for pasting into other applications.
If you want to generate another password, just click the "Generate password".

To easily copy generated passwords to use them in different applications, you should use 'Copy Password' or 'Generate and Copy Password' features.
Using "Copy password" feature you can easily copy generated password to clipboard and then paste it into password field in any application.
To save your time you can use "Generate and Copy password" feature (also accessible by hotkeys and from tray menu)
To generate random password and copy it to buffer (clipboard):
• Double-click on My Password Generator desktop icon or tray icon to open My Password Generator main window.
• Click "Tools" button and select "Password Generator".
• In "Random password generator settings" area specify password length and what characters you want to use (upper/lower case letters, digits).
• Click "Generate and Copy password" button and you'll see your password in "Generated password" field and it will be automatically copied to buffer (clipboard).

How to keep passwords
How can I add passwords to 'Password Keeper' module?
To add password to "Stored passwords" list:
• Double-click on My Password Generator desktop icon.
• Select "Tools" in the toolbar and select "Password keeper".
• Click the "Add" button.
• Enter password:
- you can enter password manually
- if you generate passwords using My Password Generator, you can use "Copy password" and "Generate and copy password" feature and then paste password using Ctrl+V or "Paste" item from context menu.
If necessary, enter information that is associated with your password - name/login and url.
• Click "OK".

How to lock/unlock stored passwords
If you use "Stored passwords encryption (AES/Rijndael 256-bit key encryption)" feature, you can lock (dismount)/unlock (mount) stored passwords database using "Lock"/"Unlock" in program toolbar and tray menu.
- To lock (dismount) stored passwords database, double-click My Password Generator desktop icon or My Password Generator tray icon and click the "Lock" button in the toolbar or right-click My Password Generator tray icon and select the Lock item. Note: to use "Lock" feature you should turn "Stored passwords encryption (AES/Rijndael 256-bit key encryption)" option on.
Note: If "Stored passwords encryption (AES/Rijndael 256-bit key encryption)" option is on, your passwords database is locked every time you exit the program and you have to unlock (mount) passwords databse when you run the program.
- To unlock (mount) stored passwords database, double-click My Password Generator desktop icon or My Password Generator tray icon and click the "Unlock" button in the toolbar or right-click My Password Generator tray icon and select the Unlock item.

I forgot my password to unlock passwords database. How can I recover it?
My Password Generator has no backdoors. If you forgot or lost your password, there is no way to recover the encrypted information.
To continue using My Password Generator you should:
exit My Password Generator (press 'Exit' in program toolbar, not just close the main window)
delete Forms.dat and Settings.dat (you can find these files in the directory where program is installed)
start My Password Generator - program creates new (empty) files

How can I export stored passwords?
If you have My Password Generator 2.0 or higher version, you can easily export passwords database:
• Double-click on My Password Generator desktop icon.
• Click 'Tools' button and select 'Import/Export'.
• Click 'Export' button and select where you want to save your passwords database.
• Click 'Save' button.
 Note:
- If your passwords are locked, you need to unlock them before exporting
- Passwords database is exported in non-encrypted form.

• I want to associate sticky notes with certain programs/windows/files and every time I open the program/window/file the sticky note popups. How can I do it?
Using "Associate Notes with windows" feature you can associate sticky notes with any program/window you want. Note: to associate a sticky note with the certain programs/windows you should run the necessary programs/open the windows so they are in the "Associate Note with windows" window in the "Application Window Title" column. The sticky note appears on the desktop any time you open the program/window the sticky note is stuck to; if you close the program/window, the sticky note disappears. The note is hidden if the program/window it is stuck to is closed.
To associate a sticky note with window/program:
• Choose the Links|Associate with windows item from the program context menu or right-click on the "Attach panel" and select "associate with window" in the context menu.
"Associate Note with windows" window with a list of opening programs/windows appears.
Choose the program(s)/window(s) you want to associate the sticky note with. Note: to associate a sticky note with the certain programs/windows you should run the necessary programs/open the windows so they are in the "Associate Note with windows" window in the "Application Window Title" column.
Click the OK button.
To associate a sticky note with file:
• Choose the Links|Associate with file item from the program context menu or right-click on the "Attach panel" and select "associate with file" in the context menu.
• Choose the file (*.doc, *.xls, *.pdf) you want to associate the note with.
• Click the Open button.
