How to clean index.dat file
Internet history is more than just a list of visited web sites. Your computer stores multiple records of your Internet history that are not easily to deleted. Internet Explorer uses history index.dat, cookies index.dat snd cache index.dat to store Internet history, cache, cookies and other information about your Internet activity. While being useful, storing index.dat files can be a privacy issue.
To clean index.dat files you need special software as they are locked by Windows and they are not deleted even if you clean browser history, cache and cookies.
